Mr. Eric Russell will be joining the James Cole Elementary Staff this year as a fifth grade teacher. Mr. Russell comes to Cole from North Miami Elementary. Mr. Russell also has taught in Rensselaer. A native of Rensselaer, Mr. Russell enjoys basketball, being outdoors, and constructing things from wood. Mr. Russell brings a wealth of technology integration knowledge to Cole Elementary which will be especially helpful with grades 3, 4, and 5 having Chromebooks available during the school day assigned to each student. Mr. Russell and his wife, Mary, are moving to the Lafayette area. They are expecting their first child in October. Mr. Russell is excited to begin at James Cole Elementary School.
"I am excited to join the Tippecanoe School Corporation. It is a progressive school district which will offer me many opportunities to grow professionally. I am excited to work in the rural community setting of Cole which has a reputation of academic success along with a focus on the child. I am very excited about the educational possibilities that come with the Cole Outdoor Education Center. I love to get my hands dirty. I carry that passion with me to my classroom."
Mr. Russell is an avid basketball fan and loves all sports. He says you just might see him at recess a time or two throwing a football or shooting hoops with the students. Mr. Russell finds great pleasure teaching both reading and math. He looks forward to meeting his class when they arrive this school year.
