Tippecanoe School Corporation
Book Character Parade
Hillary Wycoff

Students in kindergarten and first grade had the chance to parade around the school, but not just as themselves.  These students dressed up as their favorite book characters and walked the hallways and into each classroom showing off their costumes and the books their character was from.  There were Dr. Suess characters, superheroes, dinosaurs, animals, princesses, police officers, and so many more characters.  The teachers led the way as the students proudly showed their characters to all the "big kids" of the school.  These young students went in all the classrooms, second through fifth grade, to show off their characters.  This was more than just parading around the school, the students then took the time to share about their characters and books once they returned to the the classroom.  This is just one way that Cole tries to foster a love for reading starting at a young age.
