Fifth Grade Plays
Hillary Wycoff

The fifth grade students have been working for months perfecting their fairytale plays.  Each student was assigned a group, and their job was to create a play to perform based upon a fairytale that was given to them by the teachers.  The students had to create their lines and memorize them, design and make all of the props they needed for the plays, as well as figure out costumes for their character.  The fifth grade performed 5 different fairytales: Jack and the Beanstalk, Goldilocks and the Four Bears, The Four Little Pigs, Little Red Riding Hood, and Princess and the Pea.  The students had to adapt some of the stories by adding characters and creating those parts.

The students spent a whole day creating the props that they needed to perform their plays.  They used their creativity with cardboard to design everything they needed, from houses, to beds, doors, and so much more.  Within the plays, some of the students were a part of the stage crew, so they were in charge of making sure the props were where they needed to be, when they needed to be there.  The students all worked together with their groups and performed wonderful renditions of all the fairytales.  Parents, staff, and students all loved being able to watch the special performances.
