The fifth grade girls who chose to forgo recess and instead join their peers for a 'working lunch' sat around the big table in the James Cole Elementary Library and met with parent and local bank vice-president, Casey Spencer and the school counselor, Hillary Lewandowski. The meeting was the first of three that will be held this year titled "Girls Lead". The purpose of these meetings is to hold conversations with interested female fifth graders to discuss leadership and to bolster confidence. The meetings center around the following topics: Kindness, Respect, and Confidence. This idea is an off-shoot of the Cole Professional Academy which is a monthly meeting of all fifth grade students covering topics like table etiquette, interview skills, and job application completion.
