Grandparents Day
Hillary Wycoff

The PTO at Cole always creates memorable moments and experiences for the students and staff.  One tradition that always goes above expectation is Grandparents Day.  The parents involved in planning this event created many fun and engaging activities that students could participate in with with grandparents.  The morning was dedicated to exploring the school and participating in different activities as they chose.  It was an open house style of Grandparents Day with different activities set up throughout the school.  The students with their grandparents started in the classroom and then were able to choose where they wanted to start and what they wanted to do.  Each classroom had donuts for the families to enjoy together as they started their morning.  When they left the classroom, they could go to the music room to play instruments together, the art room to create masterpieces, the library held the opportunity for students to interview their grandparents, the cafeteria had puzzle pieces for families to create a class puzzle, and the gym had a Kahoot game that had questions for both generations.  A highlight of the day for many as well is getting to take part in a photo booth.  There were many wonderful things to do inside, and for those that were brave enough to face the rain, the Outdoor Education Center was open to explore.  The fun didn't end their.  After their morning at school, families were invited to continue their day at Malibu Jacks for a discounted rate to continue making memories.  It is events like these that make Cole a special place to be.
