Christmas came early for Cole Elementary School. Decks Unlimited of Dayton completed a large deck overlooking the pond at the Cole Outdoor Education Center. Students and staff can enjoy many lessons close to nature thanks to a donation by the John and Ruby Parks Charitable Trust and Keep Stockwell Beautiful.

The deck, valued at more than $28,000, is the latest addition to the Cole Outdoor Education Center that also features a shelter house, stadium classroom seating, walking track, bat house and more.

"We have been in a decade-long rejuvenation project of the Cole Outdoor Education Center,” says Pinto. “This deck represents one of the final pieces of this project and will allow our students a chance to interact more closely with the pond and with nature. We are grateful to Keep Stockwell Beautiful, John and Ruby Parks Trust, and Decks Unlimited for making this dream a reality. Our students will benefit for many years to come."

“This is a dream that has been in the making for several years and has finally come true,” says Kris Ziller, chair of the Keep Stockwell Beautiful Board. “It just goes to show that perseverance pays off."
