The Indiana School Resource Officers Association (ISROA) presented its Officer of the Year award to Aaron Gilman. Gilman is a 26-year veteran of the Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s Office and has served as a school resource officer for the Tippecanoe School Corporation for nine years.

The ISROA presented the award to Gilman at its annual conference in Michigan City. The organization presents the award to a school resource officer who has gone above and beyond their normal duties to enhance their school and by serving as a counselor, teacher and law enforcement officer. The honorees are nominated by their peers, supervisors, school district, students and faculty.

In accepting the award, Gilman said he was humbled and honored by the recognition. “I am encouraged by my SRO (School Resource Officer) group of five who work in 19 school buildings,” says Gilman. “I enjoy watching the officers make a difference with our students. It drives me daily knowing we are making a positive impact in our schools.”
