Holly Shop Helps Fill Spaces Under the Christmas Tree
Holly Shop Helps Fill Spaces Under the Christmas Tree

The holiday season is exciting for children. There are traditons, good food, family, maybe even trips, and of course gifts. The Cole PTO continued its traditional Holly Shop this year offering students a wide variety of gift offerings they could purchase at the bargain basement price of $2.00 each. How is this possible? Lots of hard work and thrifty shopping is in order.

The lobby was transformed into a winter wonderland by the PTO 'elves' who worked tirelessly to adorn all the windows and display cases in red and white. Trees were added as well as a fireplace that provided students and classrooms alike a chance to comfortably settle in to read or complete an assignment.

Inside the gymnasium many tables were filled with shopping treats. The PTO parents, led by retired Cole Teacher, Mrs. Downham, scoured the bargains all year long looking for those treats that could bring a smile to a child's face as a gift for a parent, sibling, loved one, even their pet dog. The Holly Shop is provided as a service, not a fundraiser, from the Cole PTO. Everyone at Cole, including the bus drivers who graciously allow all of these treasures onto their bus, collaborates to make this event possible. The smiles on the faces of the children serve as a reminder that in fact, all the time and effort is worth it.
