She Leads

She leads is a branch off of the Cole Professional Academy.  The purpose of this group is to focus on helping to raise kind, respectful, and confident young ladies to be prepared to lead others in any situation.  The girls learn how to apply leadership skills in school, outside of school, and in the future.  With She Leads being an extension of the Cole Professional Academy, the group works to promote professional leadership that will help them to succeed in school, the future, and create leadership skills that many will want to follow.  

She Leads has four main pillars that it embraces:

Leading with Pride- This focuses on the girls' taking pride in who they are in what they do.  They give their best work in all situations because they have pride in it and in themselves, so they want the things associated with their name to be the best they can be.

Leading with Kindness- There is a fine line between being kind and being too kind.  She leads wants to emphasize the importance of showing everyone kindness in all situations, but also not allowing people to walk all over them.  Leading with kindness makes it easier for others to want to follow them and give them their best.

Leading with Respect- When you give respect, it is easy to get respect in return.  Being a lady that leads with respect shows value and care to others.  This skill is a pillar for She Leads because respecting others can lead to a productive and successful work or school environment.

Leading with Confidence- Confidence is something that comes from within.  With this pillar of She Leads, the group focuses on everything from posture and body language to how they answer a question.  Body language says a lot about a person, so practicing confident stances and positions allows the girls to become self aware of what they are portraying to others.  Confidence is able to admit that they aren't perfect, owning up to the mistakes they make, and taking steps to improve those mistakes in the future.  Having the confidence to believe in themselves and their abilities leads to trying new things and pushing themselves to the best they can be.

She Leads meets during the lunch and recess time of the girls on the same day as the Cole Professional Academy afternoons.  The group is on a volunteer basis, so students come only if they want to.  The group time follows this  basic structure:

• 15 minutes of eating and chatting with friends
• 15 minutes of content discussion (includes videos, activities, and discussion questions)
• 15 minutes of hands on practice with real world scenarios
